Why is my washing machine not spinning?
The most common causes are a worn or broken drive belt, a faulty motor carbon brush, an overloaded drum or a blocked pump preventing drainage. On front-loaders, a failed door latch can also prevent the spin cycle from starting.
Why is my washing machine leaking water?
Leaks usually come from a worn door seal (especially on front-loaders), a loose or cracked hose connection, a blocked or damaged pump, or an overloaded drum causing water to overflow the detergent drawer. It is best to stop using the machine until it is inspected to avoid water damage.
Why won't my washing machine start?
Check the door is fully closed and latched, the programme has been selected and the machine is plugged in and switched on at the wall. If those are all fine, the fault is likely a faulty door interlock, a blown thermal cut-out or a control board issue — all of which we can diagnose and fix.
Why is my washing machine making a loud banging or grinding noise?
Banging during the spin is often caused by worn drum bearings, a loose drum paddle or an item trapped between the drum and the door seal. Grinding sounds can indicate a worn motor or foreign objects (coins, underwire) in the pump filter. We recommend getting this checked promptly as bearings can cause further damage if left.
My washing machine is not draining — what is wrong?
A blocked pump filter is the most common reason — it is worth checking this yourself first (usually a small cap at the bottom front of the machine). If the filter is clear, the pump itself may have failed, or a drain hose may be blocked or kinked. We can diagnose and repair the fault quickly.
